Luscher’s bankruptcy won't affect Indian printers, says Nippon Color

Nippon Color, the Indian representative of Luscher, the Swiss manufacturer of CTP systems has said Indian printers will still have access to spare parts and service despite the Swiss firm's collapse.

Speaking to PrintWeek India, Jayant Pardiwala, owner of Nippon Color, said, “The high manufacturing cost of Luscher CTP, drop in the orders and negative effect of the strong Swiss Franc are the reasons for the company’s bankruptcy.

Pardiwala added, “The Swiss company is not accepting the new orders but service is still up and going. That's the only part of the business that is still up and going. We still have unrestricted access to spare parts as required.”

At the last Drupa the Swiss manufacturer launched several new products, including the XDrum UV external drum B1 CTP system co-developed with Heidelberg aimed at high-volume users.

Luscher has more than 1,600 CTP systems installed worldwide of which 15 systems are installed in India.
